Apprenticeships are designed to meet your needs as an employer through vocational training. It is a combination of on-the-job training and qualifications that are current and relevant to your industry.
To put it simply, almost anyone of any age over 16 can undertake apprenticeship training, even those who have degree qualifications can now be considered to undertake an apprenticeship programme. This applies equally to both new and existing employees in your business. Apprenticeships are a fantastic option for those of any age who would like to gain new qualifications alongside working within their chosen industry. There are a range of apprenticeship levels available to suit your organisation and the skills required for your business.
From April 2017 the funding of apprenticeships changed with the introduction of the apprenticeship levy. The amount of funding required from your business to support apprenticeship training will depend on the size of your payroll. To see the full details please download our 'Apprenticeship Guide for Employers' which contains the latest funding information based on current government policy.
Incentive payments of £1,000 from government are potentially available to support employers who take on an apprentice of 16-18 or age 19+ who have an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan.
Having an apprentice in your organisation will:
